About

Yufei Yuan obtained his bachelor degree in Engineering Mechanics in Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2006, and he continued his master study with scholarship at the department of Transport and Planning, Delft University of Technology, in the Netherlands. After receiving his M.Sc. degree in transport and planning in 2008, he joined the department of Transport & Planning as a PhD candidate. He was awarded with Doctoral degree, with the thesis titled 'Lagrangian Multi-class Traffic State Estimation' in March 2013. He also stayed at University of Southampton in the UK (with the scientific grant from the 'COST Action') and at research laboratory LICIT/IFSTTAR in France, as a visiting scholar. Currently, he is affiliated as a tenured researcher at the Department of Transport & Planning, Delft University of Technology.

His research interest has been focusing on traffic flow theory and simulation, data mining and processing, traffic state estimation and prediction, traffic management and analysis under evacuations and large-scale events, intelligent transportation systems in general for 'fast' vehicular traffic. Until recently, his working area is extending to 'slow/active modes', including pedestrian, bicyclist and micro-mobility flows, covering data collection, behavioral interpretation, modelling underpinning, simulation implementation, and data-driven applications.
